古籍记载，楚人崇凤，祭祀大典中，凤凰被意象为上达天庭、寻引飞升的神祗。凤凰座以昂首盘踞的虎为底座，虎背上站立一只神凤，神凤背生一对鹿角，体态轻灵，跃跃欲飞。凤、虎、鹿三种祥瑞图腾合为一体，是为中华古凤神祇。

As is recorded in ancient documents, people in Kingdom Chu(today’s Hunan Province) worshipped phoenix as a deity that was a guide tour to Heaven in sacrifice rites. Phoenix Terrace is founded on a coiled head-up tiger on whose back stands a divine phoenix with a pair of deer horns. Light in figure, it looks about to fly. The three auspicious totems of phoenix, tiger and deer combine into one---Divine Altar of the Ancient Chinese Phoenix.
