“一座青山抱古城，一湾沱水绕城过”。 横亘古城的南华山被誉为凤凰城的父亲山，碧水逶迤的沱江是凤凰城的母亲河。
“Green mountain embraces an old city and water flows around the city.”Mt.Nanhua is crowned as Father Mountain of Fenghuangcheng (Phoenix Town), and green and winding Tuo River is the Mother River of Fenghuangcheng.
南华山国家森林公园处于凤凰古城南侧，总面积2354公顷，其间有大小峰峦45座，沟涧壑谷72条，山泉水井21处，天坑、溶洞多处。相传，南极仙翁在此滴洒神水，留得物华繁茂，当地百姓感念天恩而称誉为南华山。
Located in the south of Fenghuangcheng, National Forest Park in Mt.Nanhua covers the area of 2354 hectare. Big and small peaks amount to 45, valley and hills sum up to 72, spring and water wells amount to 21 and some sky holes and caves. Tradition has it that behind-the-scenes white of the South Pole spreads magical water and brings richness and prosperity to this area. So that local people call this Mt.Nanhua because they remember it with gratitude.
南华山林深木茂，翠色千层，著名南社诗人田星六先生作诗赞之：“青山十万翠烟重，第一南华是主峰。四合松涛去不断，时来添打寺门钟。”昔日凤凰古八景之东岭迎晖、南华叠翠、奇峰挺秀、山寺晨钟、兰径樵歌皆在南华山。
Deep forest and green trees are there in Mt.Nanhua. The famous poet Mr.Tian Xinliu once wrote a poem to eulogize its beauty: “Among hundreds and thousands of green hills, the first Nanhua is the main peak, and branches of pine-trees occasionally ring the temple’s bell. ” The old eight scenic spots, namely Yin Hui on eastern hill, deep and green trees on Nanhua, strange peaks, morning clock in temple and beautiful songs all on Mt.Nanhua.
南华山国家森林公园景区之规划以凤凰古城为依托，以森林公园为底本，以边城文化为主体，创造性地构建了五大主题景区。它包括：神凤文化景区、南华禅林景区、边城文化景区、古苗国文化景区、奇峰寺景区，以及五星级酒店会议中心、高尔夫球场、汽车旅游营地等旅游、会议配套功能。整体建成后将是“中国首个凤凰文化全体验景区”、“世界苗文化体验中心”、“湘西生态旅游示范区“，无愧为湘西旅游的耀眼风景。
Based on Old Fenghuangcheng, depended on forest park, set culture of border town as the main part, National Forest Park in Mt.Nanhua is consisted of five main scenic spots with innovation. It includes Divine Phoenix, Nanhua Temple, Border Town, Ancient Miao Cultural and Qifeng Temple, as well as five-star hotel’s conference center, golf course, car travel camp and so on. After all the construction, it will be “the first experience area of Phoenix culture in an all-round way”, “experience center of world Miao culture” and “biological tourism spots in West of Hunan”, and it will be the shining places of interest of West of Hunan Tourism without any doubt.
